Oconomowoc Police Discover Hidden Camera in Bender Beach Porta Potty

-

Oconomowoc police have discovered a hidden camera that someone placed inside a porta potty at Bender Beach, according to a news release.

According to the news release from the Oconomowoc Police Department, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 1:13 p.m., the Waukesha County Communications Center received a call regarding suspicious circumstances at Bender Beach in the City of Oconomowoc.

The City of Oconomoc Police responded to the area.

“The responding officers located a battery-operated camera in the porta potty toilet,” the news release says. “The camera was secured inside the toilet. The camera was confiscated and is currently being analyzed. The camera was visible when the seat was lifted. This is an ongoing investigation.”

According to police, the City of Oconomowoc Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has made a check of all city bathrooms and porta potties. “The city will continue to monitor the public bathrooms and encourages all businesses that have a public restroom to be vigilant in the inspection for hidden devices,” police wrote.

Police, in the release by Chief James Pfister, wrote that they “encourage all citizens to keep a look out for cameras that are installed in public restrooms and other public areas. If you locate any such devices or have any information on this case, please contact the City of Oconomowoc Police Department.”

What is Bender Beach? “This is a small park with lake access. The site is located on the east shore of Lac La Belle in the north-central portion of the City,” the city’s website says.
