The Brown County, Wisconsin, Public Health office has renamed “breast feeding” chest feeding.
In the same post, Brown County’s Public Health department referred to mothers as a “birthing parent.”
The office used the term in a January 26 post on Facebook in the latest liberal effort to use language to alter womanhood.
“Breast/chestfeeding is a beautiful way to nourish and bond with a baby. Human milk also has many benefits for both the birthing parent and baby! However, many parent’s face challenges on their breast/chestfeeding journey,” the Facebook post reads.
The post was announcing a “lactation empowerment scholarship.” What the heck is a lactation empowerment scholarship? The application form says, “If you receive this scholarship, you will be committed to providing lactation support to populations with health disparities in Brown County for at least 1 year.”
Candidate “recruitment” is focused on encouraging non-white heterosexuals to apply. “To foster culturally appropriate support and serve families who experience health disparities and systemic racism, CLC candidate recruitment will encourage those from the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, plus) communities,” it reads.
“The goal of the Lactation Empowerment Scholarship is to ensure that all parents have access to equitable lactation support in Brown County. If you are passionate about breast/chestfeeding and live in Brown County, check it out!” the post continues.
On social media, a lot of people thought it was pretty ridiculous.
“Chest feeding? Wtf?” wrote one comment writer on the page.
People were critical of the term in shares of the post. “Brown County Public Health / Brown County Government follow the science. It’s breastfeeding,” wrote one person.
But a woman opined, “Did you know that pretty much anyone with nipples can chest feed? With enough stimulation and sometimes oxytocin, the milk ducts will produce. Fascinating stuff really.”
