Burnt Chicken? Unfortunately, Chicken Isn’t the Only Thing Burning

-

This is an opinion piece by Billie Johnson, Chairman 2nd Congressional District Republican Party

Bob Dohnal’s annual Chicken Burn has been around for over 50 years. I wish I had discovered it sooner, but I only learned of the Chicken Burn in the last 15 years. I’ve missed only one or two since then. But now that the Wisconsin Conservative Digest (WCD) has new management, things are going down fast. Most of Bill Savage and WCD’s endorsed primary candidates lost on August 13. Lost is a mild term; “crashed and burned” is a more apt description. Unfortunately, Chicken isn’t the only thing burning at this year’s Chicken Burn. What is burning down is all of Bob Dohnal’s great work and legacy over the years.

Bill Savage is now the editor of the Wisconsin Conservative Digest, per his email blasts.

The Wisconsin Conservative Digest recently posted this on Facebook: “Movements are developing to use write-in campaigns and/or just simply encouraging folks to vote democrat in down ballot races in November.”

Interesting Orwellian idea: “The only way to win is by losing.” But when I dared to post in response, I clearly triggered the author.

Savage responded by calling me out by name and accusing the Republican Party of being “corrupt.”

I’m living rent-free in Bill’s head, just like Donald Trump lives in the heads of millions of Democrats. Bill told me in one message I must answer for my words. Apparently, I committed a thought crime. Bill, I’m not one to back down.

While Bill Savage and others seek the defeat of Republicans, the 2nd Congressional District leadership team is doing all we can to help Donald Trump win Wisconsin’s ten electoral votes. Who wins Wisconsin will be determined in the 2nd Congressional District. The 2nd Congressional District will soon make an initial $25,000 digital ad buy and launch a nearly $9,000 texting campaign. As donations come, we hope to expand those buys. Not bad considering the 2nd Congressional District had $677.73 in its bank account when I became chairman last summer.

If anyone wants to help us in this fight to save our county, the 2nd Congressional District Republican party is listed on WINRED.
