We all know Attorney General Josh Kaul filed charges against Trump attorney Jim Troupis in a four year old questionable case over the Republican electors in the 2020 election. It’s truly hard to believe. But no one is asking what the motivation of Kaul is.
I believe that Kaul’s motivation is multi-faceted. First, the guy has been a governor wanna-be forever, and filing these charges is his announcement that he is running for Gov. This is an announcement to the hard-core Marxist left crowd that he needs to fund his campaign that he is prepared to do anything to win. Of course, this means that he either talked to Gov. Evers and that Evers is not going to run again, or Kaul is prepared to try to push Evers out, a/k/a another Kamala like coup. And hey, the party did it to Biden, so Kaul could figure he can do the same thing to Evers.
This has nothing to do with the documentation of the electors in 2020. The timing is coming right after Trump won, but before he has been inaugurated, so the timing was, I think, given some thought. And from one source, I’m told that one reason the supreme court picked Bush over Al Gore in Florida during that presidential election battle is that Gore’s lawyers never bothered to have an alternative set of electors chosen and ready to go. So that is one very good reason for Troupis et al to have their set of electors ready to go. And besides, having an alternate set of electors is not a crime. It’s how the system works. Both major parties select their electors in advance and depending on who wins, that set of electors is selected to cast their ballots for their candidate. That’s how it works. Kaul just thinks we are all a bunch of idiots.
It’s pretty obvious that Kaul is following the same playbook used against Rudy Giuliani.
The real problem here is that every lawyer should be very concerned about this, if Troupis can be sued for being a lawyer and zealously representing his client. The real ‘crime’ is that he represented Trump. Another political persecution. But this is going to greatly compromise our entire criminal defense system in which lawyers represent their clients – whether they are guilty or not. If Kaul can can destroy that system, we are all in very serious trouble.
I just hope liberal lawyers everywhere call up Kaul and urge him to drop the case.
