I am running for Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge, Branch 2 because I want to use my skills and experience to serve the community that I call home. My husband and I decided to raise our family in Jefferson County and my weekends are usually spent at the Jefferson County Dog Park with my golden retriever or getting ice cream at Frostie Freeze or Mullen’s Dairy Bar. I am proud of my career and work as an attorney but above all else, I am most proud of my family and being a mother.
I recently decided to throw my hat in the ring as a candidate for Jefferson County Judge, Branch 2 because I believe my values and experience are a better alternative than the other candidates running for this position.
However, politics reared its ugly head when my opponents, Gov. Evers’ Appointee Theresa Beck and Jennifer Weber filed complaints attempting to deny my ability to be placed on the ballot for the primary election on February 18. They undemocratically attempted to disenfranchise Jefferson County voters in an attempt to get themselves elected. These political games are exactly what the voters of Jefferson County are tired of.
Fortunately, the Wisconsin Elections Commission sided with the Constitution, and I will in fact be on the ballot, which will allow Jefferson County voters to decide who they want to serve as their judge. Theresa Beck and Jennifer Weber got the law wrong. This is a win for democracy despite my opponents’ cheap ploy.
The Jefferson County Courthouse needs a fresh face with a new perspective.
Throughout my career, I have devoted myself to safeguarding the public and those most vulnerable in our community both in and outside of the courtroom as a defender of vulnerable adults and children and as a mental health supporter. I have litigated at all levels of the Wisconsin Court System and in federal court. I have won multiple appeals in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
In addition, I have represented the public in hundreds of court proceedings. Outside the courtroom I have trained law enforcement on mental health response and work with law enforcement to provide services to victims of abuse in the community. I am also a published legal author and train other attorneys on ethics topics to ensure honesty and integrity are upheld in the Justice system.
I love Jefferson County. I am proud to be raising my daughter here. As a mom, I believe it is important to show our children that we must live with conviction, be honest, live a life of integrity, and serve our community. I am running because I want to use my skills and experience to serve the community I call home. I believe Jefferson County deserves an alternative to my opponents. Fortunately, but much to their dismay – Jefferson County will get to make this decision on February 18 and then again on April 1. I hope to earn the trust and confidence of the voters of Jefferson County over the coming months.
