She wasn’t expecting it, but Prince Charming turned into the real thing for Ella Kleefisch on Sunday night.
The daughter of former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and former state Rep. Joel Kleefisch was engaged in a truly fairytale moment.
While playing the role of Cinderella on stage, Ella Kleefisch was proposed to by her boyfriend, Gabe Hanna, who was playing Prince Charming. The proposal happened during a Cinderella production at the Sun Prairie Civic Theatre.
The couple shared the news in an Instagram post on Monday.

Ella’s mother, former Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, announced the engagement on her Facebook page, saying, “Congratulations to my sweet oldest daughter, Ella Rose, and her fiancé, Gabe! What a way to end their run as Cinderella and Price Charming! My heart is full!”
Hanna is seen getting down on one knee in front of Kleefisch, who was wearing a wedding dress during the curtain call of the production’s finale.
His words were just as charming as his costume, as it turned out.
Hanna said, “I actually want to take this moment to thank this beautiful, talented woman right next to me. She has made this show her everything over the last two months, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
“I have known Ella for the last two years, and throughout the last two years I have been the most happy that I’ve ever been in my entire life,” he added.
“Two years ago I was awake at night, hoping, praying to God that someone would come into my life and love all the things that I love and do all the things that I do and be my everything. And yes, I’ve found her.”
“She is my angel,” added Hanna, who then took Kleefisch by the hand, got down on one knee, and pulled out the ring from his jacket.
“Ella Rose, will you marry me?” he asked. She said yes!
