Wisconsin Sen. Duey Stroebel Supports IVF, Birth Control [Fact Check]

Democrat Jodi Habush Sinykin is refusing to pull a campaign ad that Sen. Duey Stroebel says falsely accuses him of not supporting IVF. Stroebel supports IVF, he confirmed in a statement.

“The nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau confirmed in the attached memo that Wis. Stat. 940.04 and 2019 Senate Joint Resolution 86 do not impact IVF access in Wisconsin,” Stroebel wrote in a news release.

“A Jodi Habush Sinykin television advertisement continues to tell irresponsible, proven lies about Senator Stroebel’s strong record in the State Senate,” the release says.

Senator Stroebel issued the following statement:

“I knew immediately that Jodi Habush Sinykin was lying about my record in the State Senate, but confirmation from the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau makes it obvious that Jodi and her campaign knowingly lied to mislead Wisconsin voters.”

“Jodi and her team should do the right thing, stop spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a week spreading these lies, issue an apology, and move on.”

Senator Stroebel’s campaign has previously sent Habush Sinykin a cease and desist letter. Habush Sinykin has refused to pull the lying ad off the air. Her campaign manager, Robert Abrahamian, has also shared mis-cited lies with reporters covering this story.

Senator Stroebel supports full access to birth control and IVF. He has also co-sponsored a bill to repeal the 1849 abortion law and provide a window for Wisconsin women to have an abortion up to three months, if approved by voters.”

Through her campaign manager, Jodi Habush Sinykin previously insisted she was standing by her ad, claiming, “We understand that Duey Stroebel’s legislative record is inconvenient for his new, fair district. But the facts are the facts.”
