Elon Musk flirted with the idea of buying MSNBC, writing on X, “How much does it cost?”
Musk was responding to a post on X by Donald Trump Jr., who wrote on November 22, “Hey @elonmusk! I have the funniest idea ever!!!” Trump Jr. shared a post that speculated, “Comcast is putting MSNBC up for sale.”
CNN reported that Comcast “is planning to spin off most of its cable television networks, including MSNBC and CNBC, into a separate publicly traded company,” which sparked the sale rumors. CNN noted, “The standalone cable network venture could also attract buyers as well as sellers.”
According to Newsweek, Comcast has said MSNBC is not for sale, though.

That didn’t stop people from dreaming up potential new lineups for a Musk-owned network.
Podcaster Joe Rogan responded, “If you buy MSNBC I would like Rachael Maddow’s job. I will wear the same outfit and glasses, and I will tell the same lies.”

In 2017, Musk wrote on then-Twitter, “I love Twitter.”
A user named Dave Smith wrote, “You should buy it then.”
Musk responded, “How much is it?”
And the rest is history.
