A man armed with a gun and knife was arrested near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home in Maryland early Wednesday morning.
According to Fox News, The suspect was carrying a gun and a knife when arrested and had made threats to kill Kavanaugh. He was picked up on a nearby street. The man was angry about the leaked draft opinion indicating the justices, including Kavanaugh, are poised to overturn Roe. v. Wade, the Washington Post is reporting, adding that he was also angry about mass shootings.
He did not get to Kavanaugh‘s home.
Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said, “At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh. He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District.”
Journalist Karol Markowicz said in a tweet that the man’s name is being withheld at this time, but reports say he is 26 and had a California driver’s license with a previous Seattle address.

Montgomery County Police said in a statement, “At 1:42 a.m. Montgomery County Police Department responded to a call for service in the area of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home in Chevy Chase, MD. An adult male from California was taken into custody by Montgomery County Police and transported to a Montgomery County police station. The case was transferred to the FBI. We are not able to release any identifiers on the suspect or whether he had a gun, that information will be provided by the FBI.”
