An armed man arrested near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home in Maryland early Wednesday morning has been identified.
26-year-old Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, was carrying a gun, knife, and pepper spray when arrested and had made violent threats against Kavanaugh.
According to the complaint, Nicholas John Roske stated he was having suicidal thoughts. Roske had in his possession, a Glock 17 with two magazines and ammunition, pistol light, duct tape, zip ties, pepper spray, crowbar, and hiking boots with padding on the bottom.
Nicholas John Roske was picked up on a nearby street. Roske was angry about the leaked draft opinion indicating the justices, including Kavanaugh, are poised to overturn Roe. v. Wade, the Washington Post is reporting, adding that he was also angry about mass shootings.
Roske did not get to Kavanaugh‘s home.

Roske is scheduled for an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt at 3 p.m. June 8, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, announcing the charges. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.
Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said, “At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh. He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District.”
Journalist Karol Markowicz said in a tweet that the man’s name is being withheld at this time, but reports say he is 26 and had a California driver’s license with a previous Seattle address.
Montgomery County Police said in a statement, “At 1:42 a.m. Montgomery County Police Department responded to a call for service in the area of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home in Chevy Chase, MD. An adult male from California was taken into custody by Montgomery County Police and transported to a Montgomery County police station. The case was transferred to the FBI. We are not able to release any identifiers on the suspect or whether he had a gun, that information will be provided by the FBI.”
