Daniel K. Blanchard was charged with 10 felony counts of child porn possession. So was Daniel L. Anderson. But both caught a break; they ended up in the courtroom of Dane County Judge Susan Crawford.
Blanchard and Anderson, whose cases are not connected, could have each received 25 years in prison for the Class D felony. Crawford agreed to dismiss 9 of the charges in both cases, according to court records.
On April 5, 2021, Crawford sentenced each man to 3 years in prison for the 1 remaining count, court records show. She also gave each man three years of extended supervision in the community.

Today Blanchard lives in Oregon, Wisconsin, not far from Oregon High School, according to DOC records. He was released onto extended supervision on March 26, 2024.
Anderson’s extended supervision was later revoked, and he is behind bars today, DOC records show. He was initially released on a $500 signature bond by a court commissioner. Even after accepting his plea, Crawford allowed the bond to continue, court records say.
According to Fox47, “Oregon officers, the DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation and state agents conducted an online undercover investigation, which led to the department obtaining a warrant to search Blanchard’s home in Oregon.”
Crawford is running for state Supreme Court against former Attorney General Brad Schimel, a Waukesha County judge and former District Attorney.
We obtained these cases through an open records request for all of Crawford’s judicial cases, through the Dane County court system. We previously wrote about her lenient sentence for a child molester and shooter.
