A dramatic video shared on X shows the moment a bloodied President Trump pumped his fist repeatedly into the air after an assassination attempt.
Reports on social media say Trump was shot at or shot; multiple media outlets reported that the sounds of gunfire rang out before Trump fell to the ground and then later reported there was a shooting. The secret service rushed the stage, video shows.
The suspect has been named by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
Although Trump survived the assassination attempt, the Secret Service said in a news release that “one spectator was killed, and two spectators were critically injured. “The Secret Service said that “a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue.”
The shooter is dead after “Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter.”
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said that he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
He wrote that “nothing is known at this time about the shooter” and offered condolences to the family of the person killed and the person “badly injured.”
“Wait, wait,” Trump said in the video shared by Elon Musk. Trump, with blood streaking his face, then stood, and pumped his fist multiple times in the air.
