Trump shot reports

Videos showed the assassination attempt against President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

Trump was okay, although photos showed him with blood streaking his face. The campaign said Trump was fine and thanked law enforcement.

The suspect has been named by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Although Trump survived the assassination attempt, the Secret Service said in a news release that “one spectator was killed, and two spectators were critically injured.” The Secret Service said that “a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue.”

The shooter, who has not been named, is dead after “Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter,” the press release says.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said that he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

He wrote that “nothing is known at this time about the shooter” and offered condolences to the family of the person killed and the person “badly injured.”

Trump was speaking about illegal immigration at the rally when the popping sounds broke out. Trump reached for his head and fell to the ground and the Secret Service rushed on stage.

You can see videos throughout this story. Elon Musk shared one of the Trump shot videos and endorsed him. In that video, a bloodied Trump told the Secret Service to wait, stood, and pumped his fist several times into the air.

The media initially hedged their reporting as the scene was chaotic and just unfolding. Fox News reported that “possible gunfire breaks out” at the rally and wrote that “gunfire appeared to break out.”

They later confirmed there was a shooting, although new reports say Trump may have been struck by glass from a teleprompter shattering.

NBC News reported that “loud noises that sounded like gunshots “were heard” and that Trump “had blood on the side of his head and his ear.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump was rushed off stage after “apparent shots fired at rally.”

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio criticized CNN’s headline reporting that Trump fell at the rally.

An emergency room physician in a bloodied shirt said in a separate video interview that deceased rally attendee was jammed between the benches. He was shot in the head. There was a lot of blood and brain matter. He did CPR.
